The daily football guessing game built on Wikipedia career histories.
The Football Career Path is a free daily football guessing game. Every day it picks one mystery footballer and shows you nothing but their career path — every club they played for, the seasons they were there, and the appearances and goals they racked up at each one. Your job is to name them.
It is the football version of the daily-puzzle habit: one player a day, no more, come back tomorrow for the next one. Think of it as a football Wordle, played with career histories instead of letters.
Play today's player →You start with the mystery player's full career laid out as a table, with one club showing. Every wrong guess reveals another — a club here, a loan spell there, a season with an eye-catching goal tally. You get one guess per club, plus a final one once they are all showing, and the fewer you need the higher you score. Guess in one and you have read the career path perfectly.
The cost of a wrong guess depends on the career. A journeyman with ten clubs gives you plenty of chances, so an early miss barely stings; a player who turned out for two gives you three guesses in total, and each one costs you a third of the score. Run out and you score nothing.
Everyone playing on a given day gets the same footballer and the same reveal order. Nobody gets handed the obvious 300-appearance giveaway club while someone else opens with an obscure loan move, so comparing scores with friends actually means something.
On top of the main daily game there are twenty more football puzzles every single day — one for each club in the 2026/27 Premier League. Pick your club and you get a mystery player who made at least 10 appearances for them, so it is a name that club's supporters have actually seen play rather than a forgotten squad number.
Every club keeps its own streak, so you can chase a perfect run at your own team, or work your way around all twenty. Whether you follow Arsenal, Liverpool, Manchester United, Manchester City, Chelsea, Tottenham Hotspur, Newcastle United, Aston Villa, Everton, Leeds United, Nottingham Forest, Crystal Palace, Brighton, Fulham, Brentford, Bournemouth, Sunderland, Ipswich Town, Hull City or Coventry City, there is a puzzle waiting each day.
There is nothing to register for. Open the page and play. Your streak is remembered on your device automatically, and if you want it to follow you to your phone or another browser you can optionally claim a username and a short PIN. That is the only thing the game ever stores about you — no email address, no password reuse risk, no adverts chasing you around.
The career tables in this game are not typed out by hand. Each one is read directly from the footballer's own Wikipedia article — specifically the standard football biography infobox, the block at the top of the page that lists each senior club alongside the years, appearances and goals.
That is the same football career data you would find if you looked the player up on Wikipedia yourself, which is exactly the point: the clues are verifiable, consistent from player to player, and cover the full career rather than a single spell at one club.
Candidates for each Premier League club are drawn from that club's "List of players" page on Wikipedia, filtered down to footballers with 10 or more appearances for that club. There is one more rule: players must have debuted in 1995 or later. It keeps the game fair for a casual football fan — a career path is only a fun puzzle if you have a realistic chance of having watched some of it.
Selection then rotates fairly through the pool rather than picking at random, so the same recognisable names do not keep coming back around while others never appear.

Because the clues mirror Wikipedia, a career that looks wrong here usually looks the same way on Wikipedia. Those are best fixed at the source — edit the player's article and the correction will flow through to a future puzzle.
